Project

Anatomie del Nutrimento is an innovative cultural and artistic project curated by Cities Art Project. It explores food not only as nourishment, but as a powerful act of cultural exchange and transformation. As the winner of the Artes et Iubilaeum – 2025 public call, the project takes place from July to November 2025 across two districts of Rome: Municipio XV and Municipio III.

With a total of 14 events over five months, Anatomie del Nutrimento actively engages local communities through creative, cultural, and culinary workshops. Each event celebrates biodiversity, international food traditions, and the rediscovery of food as a cultural, social, and identity-building practice.

Participants, guided by artists and experts, explore food as a tool to revive local traditions and reflect on its essential role in everyday life.

The Path in Municipio III: Ecologie del Nutrimento

In Municipio III, the artistic duo Caretto-Spagna, in collaboration with Spes contra Spem, leads the workshop Ecologie del Nutrimento, hosted at Casa Famiglia dell’Approdo. This workshop explores the deep relationship between humans, food, and the environment—starting with the connection between microbiota and soil, and expanding to themes of biodiversity and food as an ecological and communal resource.

The program includes three sessions, each divided into two meetings. Participants begin by foraging for wild plants and sharing stories, then move on to artistic and culinary experimentation through the Mineral Lunch initiative.

The Path in Municipio XV: La Via Lattea

In the XV District of Rome, the project comes to life with the workshop La Via Lattea, curated by the artist Gaia Scaramella and sociologist Greta Scaramella. At the heart of this journey is milk, a food symbol of nourishment and cultural tradition, explored in its historical, symbolic, and cultural dimensions.

Each workshop delves into a different aspect of milk, from the history of breastfeeding to the cultural practices associated with this essential food in the human diet.

A Collective Lunch for Inclusion and Sustainability

The project concludes on November 21, 2025, with a collective lunch open to all participants from both districts. The meal is prepared by local communities under the guidance of Chef Aurelio Caraffa from Mama Restaurant Roma. The event also involves local organizations committed to social inclusion and sustainable gastronomy, including Cooperativa Sociale ONLUS W.A.Y.S. and Pastificio Bottega UP.

A Multisensory Experience of Art and Food 

Anatomie del Nutrimento celebrates culture, community, and the transformation of raw ingredients through a unique experience that fuses culinary traditions with artistic expression. It offers a rare opportunity to reflect on our relationship with food and nature and to rediscover the value of local heritage.
